ALL AKC puppies are eligible for registration with AKC. Only the Standard colors Salt and Pepper, Black and Silver and Black can be shown in competition but Miniature Schnauzers come in many other colors:

  

Liver Parti

Parti's are born with white bodies and have chocolate spots/patches on them. Each Liver Parti will have a different pattern. They will have brown OR green eyes, chocolate pads and nose. (Max)

 

 

Liver or Chocolate

What is the Difference between Liver and Chocolate?

They are the same. The word "Liver" just means Chocolate.

So a "Liver schnauzer" and a "Chocolate Schnauzer" are the same. Puppies have to be registered Liver. Liver Schnauzers are basically a brown version of a Black Schnauzer. They are born with solid brown bodies. Some have white on their chin, chest and on their toes. They have brown OR green eyes, chocolate pads and nose.

Liver & Tan

AKC Registration Color Code #124

Born with solid chocolate bodies and Cream/Tan markings on their eyebrows, muzzle, inside their ears, across the chest, down the legs on the feet and underneath the tail. They have brown OR green eyes, chocolate pads and chocolate nose. (Harper)

 

Liver & Rust (Red)

This color comes from our Link'n. The Cream/Tan markings will be a Red Rust color. These puppies are priced more than standard Liver Tan Puppies.

Wheaten

AKC Registration Color Code #224

Wheaten which is a more yellow/cream/red color and can come in both a Black nose/pad pigment and Liver nose/pad pigment.

This color comes from our Link'n. The puppy is a gorgeous Red Wheaten. These puppies are priced more than the standard Wheaten.

Wheaten Parti

Wheaten color with darker cream or red color spots.

​Black & White Parti
AKC Registration Color Code: 023

Black & White Parti are also know as Black Parti. Born with white bodies and have spots/patches of black. Each Black Parti will vary in pattern. They have black eyes, black pads and a black nose. (Creekside's River and Lola, Foothills Echo)

You do not need to send pictures to the AKC when you register these colors.

Black
AKC Registration Color Code # 007

Born with solid black bodies. It is acceptable for Black schnauzers to have some white on their chin, chest and/or tips of their toes. They have black eyes, black pads and a black nose. Black schnauzers are born with solid black hair. Most black schnauzer hair will lighten to a dark gray when they get older.

Black & Silver
AKC Registration Color Code: 016
Born with solid black bodies and copper/bronze markings (which will turn a white) on their eyebrows, muzzle, inside the ears, across the chest, down the legs on the feet and underneath the tail. They have Black eyes, black pads and a black nose.

 

Merle Schnauzers

APRI Registered-

The Merle Miniature Schnauzer makes for a very flashy Schnauzer. They come in Blue Merle (Foothill's Molly) or Liver Merle(Foothill's Fergie) even Parti Merle. These colors could possibly have blue eyes. Merle puppies are priced according to coat and eye color.

Important note for AKC registration:
When registering your puppy with AKC it is necessary to include two photos along with your puppy’s AKC registration paperwork. The photos must be a full front view as well as a side view of the puppy.
